  • Mechanical Planner – Turnaround

    Our Offer to You

    • Site: Joffre Alberta
    • Schedule:  Pre and post TA  is 4 days on, 3 days off
    • Turnaround schedule 6 days on, 1 day off, 12 hours a day.

    Stuart Olson is searching for experienced Turnaround Mechanical Planners  to support the planning and execution of  turnaround planning at a client site in Joffre Alberta.  You will develop detailed job plans, coordinate materials and resources and collaborate closely with the client and site operation teams. Plan your 2026 turnaround season with us and work with a team that values safety, fair compensation, and employee experience.  

     Responsibilities 

    • Develop detailed mechanical job plans, work packages and task lists for turnaround activities
    • Conduct field walkdowns to verify scope, identify constraints and ensure constructability
    • Identify required labour, materials, tools, permits and equipment
    • Build BOM and coordinate with supply chain for delivery
    • Sequence work to maximize tool time and minimize equipment downtime
    • Coordinate with site stakeholders to validate scope
    • Support schedule development by providing accurate duration and crew estimates
    • Assist with scope change requests during execution and provide on-site planning support

    Qualifications 

    • Red Seal Mechanical Trade ticket preferred or will consider a mechanical engineering diploma with site experience
    • 5 – 10 years of mechanical planning experience  in a petro chemical or heavy industrial sites
    • Proficiency with CMMS software  (SAP) and planning tools
    • Able to read engineering drawings and able to interpret technical specifications
    • Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing 

    Required Safety tickets:

    • CSTS 2020

     

    Working Conditions 

    • Working at heights 
    • Working in a confined space 
    • Working in and around noise and dust 
    • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions 
    • Must be clean shaven 
    • Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots

    Physical Requirements 

    • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance 
    • Stand or walk for long periods of time 
    • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects 
    • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects

We’re currently seeking a Quality Control Inspector that is local to the Red Deer area to join our dedicated team at a client site in Joffre AB. If you’re passionate about quality, and want to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you

    Responsibilities include: 

    • Coordinate and participate in preparation, implementation, and turnover, of all project quality documentation. 
    • Prepare the Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) ensuring all quality control activities are identified, hold/witness points set, and approvals obtained from the Client and AI as required.  
    • Review and release technical documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.) for work execution.  
    • Verify welding is performed within the parameters of the accepted Welding Procedure Specification(s) including verifying welder qualifications, and welding inspection.  
    • Inspection of multi discipline field activities and products. 
    • Prepare Nondestructive Examination (NDE) requests and review NDE Reports.  
    • Interface with the AI for vessel repair, alterations and ASME B31.1 BEP.  
    • Participate in audits of the Quality Management System.  

     Qualifications  

    • CWB Level 2 
    • 3-5 years’ experience in the maintenance or construction industry  
    • Extensive experience working with the client developing Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) ensuring all quality control activities are identified, hold/witness points set, and approvals obtained from the Client and AI as required.  
    • Journeyman trade designation an asset  
    • C.E.T. in Welding Engineering Technology (WET) or Materials Engineering Technology (MET) an asset  
    • Experience working with regulatory authorities (ABSA)  
    • Excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products and Bluebeam Revu

    • Confined Space Entry & Monitor (ESC) 
    • Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing
