    Responsibilities

    • Synthesizing information from a variety of sources, including blueprints, plans and written specifications, in order to select proper materials and the amounts needed for a project
    • Using details from written plans and instructions from supervisors in order to securely bolt metal structures like beams and columns together
    • Transporting heavy metal pieces from the ground level to a higher location using tools like cranes or working with other team members to help position pieces correctly
    • Ensuring proper placement, balance, and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs
    • Transforming metal pieces into functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques
    • Accessing challenging work positions that are either at elevation or otherwise difficult to reach while following proper provincial regulations

    Qualifications

    • Journeyperson Ironworker ticket
    • *Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Welders’ ticket will also be considered

    • H2S Alive, Mandatory
    • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or CSTS 09 and WHMIS, Mandatory
    • Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Protection, Mandatory
    • Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space Entry & Monitor, Mandatory
    • Able to work under SBA mask preferred
    • Rigging experience considered an asset

    About the Role

    Stuart Olson is looking for an experienced Millwright Supervisor with a solid background in complex, integrated petrochemical facilities. This role provides leadership and oversight for millwrights working across maintenance, turnarounds, and small capital projects. The successful candidate must be able to travel to any of our sites as operational needs arise.

    This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, understands the demands of high‑hazard industrial operations, and can coordinate teams across multiple locations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervise and support millwrights performing work on rotating equipment across maintenance, turnaround, and small project scopes.
    • Travel to various company sites to provide on‑site leadership, coaching, and oversight.
    • Ensure all work is executed safely and in compliance with site procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
    • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate daily and weekly work activities with operations, maintenance, and project teams.
    • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues on pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, and other critical equipment.
    • Oversee contractor millwrights during turnarounds and project execution.
    • Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, permits, inspections, and job plans.
    • Support reliability initiatives, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
    • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all company policies.

    Required Qualifications

    • Canadian Certified Journeyperson Industrial Millwright
    • 10-15 years + years of millwright experience in petrochemical, refining, or heavy industrial environments.
    • 5 + years of General Foreman and superintendent experience preferably in a multi‑discipline or multi‑site setting.
    • Demonstrated experience working on complex, integrated petrochemical sites.
    • Strong understanding of rotating equipment, alignment, precision maintenance, and mechanical troubleshooting.
    • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to company sites.
    • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.

    Preferred Assets

    • Experience with CMMS platforms (SAP, Maximo, etc.).
    • Turnaround leadership experience.
    • Exposure to predictive maintenance technologies.
    • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to petrochemical operations.

    Qualifications 

    • Certified as an Electrical Engineering Technologist, Electrical Engineer, Power Systems Electrician or Journeyman Electrician 
    • 5+ years’ experience in Electrical Commissioning and Maintenance 
    • Registration with applicable Professional Association in good standing 
    • Strong working knowledge of various IED models from manufacturers such as SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens, ABB, Alstom etc. 
    • Knowledge of formal Management of Change (MOC) processes 
    • Participate in ILP investigations, HAZOPS and Job Safety Analysis 
    • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships 
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges

    Responsibilities

    • Acts as an ambassador for Safety and Quality at all times.
    • Implements relay settings for multiple models of relays to ensure safe, efficient, and successful operation of electrical assets ranging from 13.8kV to 260kV.
    • Participates in ILP investigations, HAZOPS and Job Safety Analysis.
    • Performs activities which include assisting in routine cleaning, testing, calibration (where/if required) of all protection IEDs, and functional operational testing of all protection schemes.
    • Carries out and/or assist during routine testing and functional verification of all communication equipment.
    • Carries out and/or assist during functional operational testing of substation auxiliary equipment and verification of the data systems that provides the operating centers with real time operating and alarm information.
    • Assists and/or resolves questions concerning IED application installations.
    • Ensures all associated protection and control documentation is up-to-date utilizing the appropriate document control methods.
    • Prepares and issues technical reports including providing recommendations.
    • Seeks value-add opportunities with clients such as potential repairs or upgrades.
    • Provides support to other staff in resolving technical issues.
    • Provides mentorship and support to junior employees.

    Qualifications

    • Certified as an Electrical Engineering Technologist, Electrical Engineer, Power Systems Electrician or Journeyman Electrician
    • 5+ years’ experience in Electrical Commissioning and Maintenance
    • Registration with applicable Professional Association in good standing
    • Technical experience in control systems (applications such as Honeywell, Triconex, DeltaV, various HMI/SCADA systems etc.) an asset
