Stuart Olson is currently seeking Safety Watch for our client site in Cold Lake, AB for a immediate start date to join our maintenance team. Working 8 on, 6 off, 10 hours per day. Preference will be given to local candidates. No camp or LOA provided.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the General Foreman, Safety Watch will be responsible for:
- Understand and utilize the right and responsibility to stop unsafe work.
- Support crews / questions in daily tailgate meetings regarding potential hazards and safety concerns.
- Drive safely and professionally, obeying all traffic rules at all times.
- Execute assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Participate in job observations, HID reporting and near miss, site inspections, weekly and monthly safety meetings.
- Report job observations to crews and discuss.
- Review monitor log to ensure documentation is complete.
- Ensure all training is up to date.
- Fire watch, spark watch, bottle watch, confined space watch as required..
- Inspect onsite safety equipment as per industry standards and applicable legislation.
- Test gases: Benzene, NORMs, VOC and use a Dreger pump.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 2 years’ experience as a general laborer in the construction industry an asset
- General construction safety knowledge
- CSTS-2020
- H2S Alive (ESC)
- Standard First Aid
- Confined Space Entry and Monitor (ESC)
- Gas Detection
- Fall Protection
- Fire Watch
- Standard First Aid
- Valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract an asset
- Pre-site Drug and Alcohol testing
Physical Requirements
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25kg
- Climbing stairs/ladders regularly
- Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
- Working at heights
- Working in and around noise and dust
- Must be clean shaven
- Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
