Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to Stuart Olson’s Quality Management System.
- Prepare the Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) ensuring all quality control activities are identified, hold/witness points set and approvals obtained from the Client and AI as required.
- Review and release all technical documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.) for work execution.
- Prepare spool drawings for fabrication.
- Review and approve Material Requisitions.
- Perform receiving inspections of code materials, prefabricated spools and pressure vessels.
- Review and verify Material Test Reports (MTRs).
- Control of nonconforming materials.
- Verification of correct material release and traceability (identification) maintained throughout manufacture.
- Notify Client and/or Authorized Inspector (AI) prior to start of work and for witness or hold points.
- Verify welder qualification record suitability for scope of work.
- Ensure control of welding consumables, included storage of low-hydrogen electrodes.
- Verify welding is being performed within the parameters of the accepted Welding Procedure Specification(s).
- Perform visual inspection of joint preparation, fit-up, in-process welding and completed weld for compliance with the WPS, client specifications and Code of Construction.
- Prepare Nondestructive Examination (NDE) requests and review NDE Reports.
- Prepare Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) instructions and review final PWHT documentation to verify cycles meet or exceed the requirements of the applicable WPS(s).
- Prepare pressure testing packages, obtain client written approvals and witness pressure tests.
- Ensure that monitoring and measuring equipment (e.g. pressure test gauges, welding equipment, etc.) have been calibrated within the previous 12 months.
- Interface with the AI for vessel repair, alterations and ASME B31.1 BEP.
- Perform quality surveillances.
- Assist with the identification, control and resolution of nonconforming product and services.
- Participate in audits of the Quality Management System.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications and the applicable codes and standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- CWB 2 certification
- 3-5 years’ experience in the maintenance or construction industry
- Journeyman trade designation an asset
- E.T. in Welding Engineering Technology (WET) or Materials Engineering Technology (MET) an asset
- ASI 510, 570, 653 an asset
- CWB certified Welding Supervisor an asset
- NACE Coating Inspector certification an asset
- CSTS
- H2S Alive
- Confined Space
- Fall Arrest
- Sound knowledge of applicable Safety Code Acts, Regulations, Codes of Construction, standards, and specifications
- Experience working with regulatory authorities (TSBC, ABSA, TSASK, ITSM)
- Experience in industrial construction, maintenance and/or shutdowns
- Experienced in the use of the Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
- Strong written and oral communication skills
