Stuart Olson is searching for Journeyperson, 2nd and 3rd year Insulators to join our dynamic team at our client site in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. This job is good for Insulators local to  Edmonton and surrounding areas who that want to go home every night.   

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements.
  • Select the amount and type of insulation to be installed as well as a method of securing the insulation according to the type and shape of the surface, whether, or not the equipment is cold or hot, inside or outside, and what the equipment is going to be used for.
  • Measure and cut insulating material and coverings to the required shape and dimensions.
  • Fit insulation around obstructions or shape insulation materials and protective coverings.
  • Install vapor barriers and finish insulated surfaces by applying metal cladding, plastic or cement.
  • Report all incidents, “near miss” incidents including damages/non-damage, injury/non-injury incidents.
  • Review and participate in the preparation of safe work practices/procedures as required.
  • Other tasks and labor duties as required on the jobsite.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Ticket 
  • Proof of hours for non-ticketed Insulators
  • Experience doing cold work, insulating with  Cellular Glass Insulation
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Committed dedication to safety; reflected in practice and experience.
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction
  • A team player with strong people skills

Energy Safety Canada required tickets:

  • CSTS 2020 (required)
  •  Good to have:
    • ESC Confined Space
    • ESC Fall Protection
    • AWP an asset

 Working Conditions

  • Working at heights
  • Working in a confined space
  • Working in and around noise and dust
  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
  • Must be clean shaven
  • Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots,

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding position. To ensure we are meeting our safety requirements, candidates are required to be in good physical condition, have good manual dexterity and physical coordination.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
