Travel:                        $500 per rotation

Stuart Olson is searching for E&I Commissioning Instrumentation technicians to join us for upcoming turnaround and project work at a client site in Northern Alberta. Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain Instrumentation equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Coordinating purchase of all required tools and test equipment
  • Provide input to maintenance plans and scheduled turnarounds/shutdowns
  • Instrumentation representation in walk-downs of completed electrical systems
  • Carry out commissioning of Instrumentation Equipment in a safe and methodical manner.
  • Understanding of the LOTO Isolation procedures
  • Adhere to and support Stuart Olson’s values, business vision, practices, procedures, and systems.
  • Oversee contract personnel and related vendors as required
  • Possess and maintain a valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

 Experience

  • Recognized Journeyman, Registered Red Seal or Instrument Certified Engineering Technologist or have equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years of experience as an Instrument Technician in the oil and gas industry
  • Having a dual Journeyman ticket for Electrician and Instrumentation would be an asset
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment in the maintenance of SAGD operating facility
  • The ability to work safely and independently and lead or take initiative on most jobs as well as being able to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices, performance measures, maintenance systems and scheduling tools and techniques
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Skill in identification of safety hazards and appropriate precautions applicable to work assignment

  • Energy Safety Canada (ESC)
    • H2s Alive
    • ESC Fall Arrest
    • ESC AWP

Working Conditions

  • Compliance to Pre Access Drug and Alcohol testing
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to camp
  • CSA approved steel-toed safety boots will be required.
  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and wintry weather conditions; in and around noise and dust
  • Coveralls, safety glasses/goggles, hard hat and gloves are provided.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time and able to climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
