Responsibilities
- Must be a team player, able to work professionally with others to complete required tasks.
- Blueprint reading, including structural erection drawings, fabrication details and engineered lift plans
- Follow erection plans and planned sequences
- Loading and transporting steel and steel structures from lay downs to erection locations
- Pre-assembling structures at ground level and installing at elevation.
- Ensuring proper placement, balance, and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs
- Transforming metal pieces into functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques
- Cutting, grinding and drilling as required for fabrication.
- Working with welders for fabrication and installation scopes
- Accessing challenging work positions that are either at elevation or otherwise difficult to reach while following proper provincial regulations
Qualifications
- Journeyman Ironworker ticket or Apprentice ID
- Valid government-issued photo ID
- CSTS-2020
- Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive
- Energy Safety Canada Fall Protection
- Energy Safety Canada Elevating Work Platform Certification
- Energy Safety Canada Confined Space Entry Monitor
- WHMIS
- Rigging experience required
- Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing
Working Conditions
- Working at heights
- Must be clean shaven
- Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
- Working in and around noise and dust
Physical Requirements
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to stand, crouch and kneel.
- Able to wear a standard Ironworker tool belt c/w tools and reasonable bolt quantities
- Ability to lift up to 50kg
- Climbing stairs/ladders regularly
- Manage hazards such as working at heights, using power tools, avoiding slips/trips, mitigating falling objects, staying out from overhead loads, use of sharp hand tools
Required to Bring to Site
- Steel-toed boots
- Prescription safety glasses (if required) – Foam Back only, no side shields
- Ironworker kit – belt in good working condition.
